It is hurricane season again for the State of Florida and Storms Are Coming!

As you prepare for the coming Hurricane season, here are a few tips on getting your supplies and “bug out” plan in order.
  1.  Water:  many stores and shopping clubs, Costco, Sam’s Club and BJ Warehouse, including most grocery stores will be out of bottled water.  Even if you could find bottle water you will be paying a pretty penny for water.  Here is a cost savings idea:  you have bathrooms in your home, right?
    • Well why not just fill up your bathtubs full of water before the storm hits?  This will give you and your family plenty of water supply.
    • Most people have food containers in their kitchen.  Fill them up with water and put them in your refrigerator or freezer or store them in your garage.
  2. Prepare for most all disasters by purchasing freezed dryed food packages, like Weiss Foods.  You can purchase a container which will last for up to 25 years, and storage is simple, just keep them in one of your bedroom closets.  You can order Weiss Food Supply containers on Shop.LakotaSafeCompany.com
  3. Bring in all of your lawn and porch furniture and store them in your garage or a spare bedroom.  Leave them out, and they are likely to fly into your home or your neighbor homes during the hurricane or during a tornado that spins off of the hurricane.
  4. Have plenty of batteries on hand and flashlights in your home.  If you lose power, you will be prepared to weather the storm and the dark.  Do not wait until the last minutes to go out and try to buy batteries.  Buy them over the year especially when they are on sale.
  5. For those that have all electric homes, it is wise to have a camping propane stove available with propane fuel canisters.  You can still cook with gas even though the electric is out.
  6. Have each family member pack a “Bug Out” bag.  Once they are packed,  put them in the vehicle that you plan to take in case of a forced evacuation order by the local Sheriff’s Department.
  7. Store all of your valuables, money, credit cards, passports, Tax records, firearms, in a Security or Gun Safe.  If you don’t have one, stop by our retail store and we can help you choose the right one for your family.  Visit Shop.LakotasafeCompany.com
  8. Bad guys work over time during times of disaster, so don’t let your guard down.  Have a home invasion plan for your family, and plenty of ammo on hand for your home defense shotgun, handgun or AR,  should you become a target for criminals. If you don’t have a firearm, visit us and we will provide you with professional gun safety and defensive shooting training and help you choose a firearm that fits your families self defense needs.
We have plenty of ammo and firearms in stock in our retail store, so stock up now before the storm.  SHOP.LAKOTASAFECOMPANY.COM
